Manitowoc Bandits won Game 2 of the Shoreland League playoffs semifinals last night 16-8 over Denmark to advance to the Championship series with Ashwaubenon who beat the Casco A’s also in two games. This will be a rematch of last year’s championship.
The Bandits got on the board early with Jake Jeanquart hitting a 2 run Home Run in the bottom of the first. The Bandits then plated 4 more runs in the 2nd, 1 in the 4th, 2 in the 5th, 1 in the 7th, and 6 more in the 8th to seal the victory.
Denmark picked up 3 runs in the 4th and 5th to tie the score at 6. They also added 1 in the 6th and 8th innings before the bandits pulled away in the bottom of the 8th.
Lead off hitter Carter Stebane was 5-6 with a 2B and 3 RBI. Jake Jeanquart was 3-6 with his 2run blast and 5 RBI. Ben Coons was 3-6 with an RBI. Lucas Mandich was 3-5 with an RBI. Aj Dollinger reached base all 5 at bats with 1 hit and 4 walks. Ridge Guyette was 3-5, and Shad Hintz was 3-5 with 2 RBI. The bandits had a total of 22 hits on the night.
Jake Jeanquart started the game pitching 4 1/3 innings with the first 3 scoreless. Ben Coons relieved him and finished the game to collect the win allowing 2 runs with 6 strikeouts.
We will keep you updated on sites for the games during the Championship series and both home sites have some conflicts and or maintenance being dobe next week. The first game on Wednesday will be hosted by Ashwaubenon and Friday and Saturday (if needed) will be hosted by Manitowoc. Wednesday and Friday start times will be 7:30pm with sites to be determined.
