Bandits Sweep Aces, Even Up Weekend
After dropping a pair of WSL games to second place Kenosha on Saturday, the Bandits regrouped at home on Sunday to win a pair of games by scores of 10-5 and 2-1. Tom Vieau earned the win in game one, pitching six innings and giving up four runs. Brennan Rhode pitched the seventh inning, recording three strikeouts. Sam Spurney led the hitters going 3x4 with a 3-run homerun to cap the scoring in the sixth inning and provide a little insurance for the Bandits.
In Game Two, Joseph Jost went the distance to earn a 2-1 win. He gave up only five hits on the game and struck out one while walking none. The Bandits scored both of their runs out of the gate and Doug Bloom and Nat Richter led off the game with a single and double respectively and scored on a Mike Hall single. That was enough for Jost who gave up only a solo homer in the fourth to Janesville.
On Saturday, newcomers Brandon Bartels and Matt Roberts each had their first starts for the Bandits. Both pitched well in their debuts but the second place Kings were able to hold out for two wins.
