Bandits Win in Extra Innings

Nat Richter laced a single to left field that scored Doug Bloom from second base with two outs in the bottom of the tenth inning to give the Bandits a 4-3 extra inning victory of the Menasha Macs in the Bandits Northeastern League opener.  Menasha had scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning off reliever Greg Herr to tie the game at 3-3.  Trevor Theismann made his Bandits debut, pitching six solid innings with six strikeouts and two walks, he gave up only one earned run.
Richter continued his hot start to the season with another multi-hit performance as the top of the lineup tandem of Bloom-Richter reached base in seven of their ten plate appearances.  Brock Wetenkamp scored a pair of runs in the contest while Sam Spurney and Wetenkamp each tallied a double.
Brendan Huhn relieved Mike Lloyd for the Macs and pitched five innings but wildness got the best of him as he walked three batters, hit two more and threw several wild pitches and passed balls.  The Bandits are home again on Thursday when they host the Appleton Legends in Cancer Awareness Night.  The Bandits will be wearing special t-shirt jerseys in honor of Cancer Awareness, sponsored by Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.
