Bandits Win SlugFest with Legends
The scoring started early for the Legends as they scored five runs and hit two homers off Bandits starter Jayme Sukowaty in the third inning and scored four runs off reliever CJ Marx in the eighth and ninth innings but in between, the Bandits put up eleven runs, including a six run sixth inning to outpace the Legends and grab an 11-9 victory.
Kyle Schroeder was 4x5 with a homerun, two doubles, three runs and five RBIs in the contest. Mike Hall added a pair of hits while TC Lee and Sam Spurney each laced a double each. Sukowaty picked up the win on the mound while Andrew Wyman recorded the final out in the contest on a pop-up to Brock Wetenkamp in foul territory to pick up the save.
The Bandits took a six run lead into the eighth inning and just as guest announcer Damon Ryan was wondering just how late he might be at the ballpark, Wyman closed the door on the evening. The team travels to Illinois this weekend to play the Addison Braves in Wisconsin State League action. Thenm they will make up their previously rained out non-league contest against the Two Rivers Polar Bears on Tuesday night at Two Rivers before returning home again next Thursday night to host the Little Chute River Bandits in Northeastern League play. The Bandits are now 7-2 overall, 3-1 in the Wisconsin State League and 2-0 in the Northeastern League.
The Bandits would like to thank Holy Family Memorial and their Cancer Care Center for sponsoring Cancer Awareness Night at the Ballpark to kick off their Cancer Awareness Week activities. It was an exciting night of baseball and we hope everyone had a great time at the ballpark.
