Bloom, Stepan Carry Bandits to Win
Bandits shortstop and lead off hitter Doug Bloom collected five hits on the evening and drove in the winning run with a single in the bottom of the tenth inning as the Bandits narrowly defeated the Green Bay Storm by a score of 5-4. The Bandits trailed by as much as 4-0 after the third inning but starting pitcher CJ Marx settled into groove, striking out seven over nine innings before being relieved by Brock Wetenkamp who picked up the win.
In the eighth inning, with the Bandits still trailing by a score of 4-2, Max Stepan hit a 2-run homerun to deep centerfield to tie the game. In the bottom of the tenth, Wetenkamp led off with a double and was moved to thirdbase when Josh Krowiorz hit a sacrifice bunt. After the Storm were able to get the second out of the inning when left fielder Brad Liermann struck out, Doug Bloom stepped up to the plate and delivered the game winner into centerfield.
The Bandits continue play tomorrow as the host Wisconsin State opponent Lombard Orioles. All tickets for the game are free, compliments of Manitowoc Company so come on out and enjoy a great doubleheader beginning at 5:00pm.
