Giants Use Long Ball to Overcome Bandits
The Oshkosh Giants hit three homeruns off Bandits pitchers on Wednesday evening to defeat the Bandits by a score of 8-6. The Bandits tallied fifteen hits of the Giants pitching staff but managed only six runs on the night. Tom Vieau took the loss on the hill, giving up two earned runs in two innings. Jim Gospodarek made his Bandits debut on the mound and pitched six innings. Chris Krepline finished out the final frame by tossing a scoreless ninth.
Offensively the Bandits were led by Max Stepan was was 4x5 and continued his torrid hitting. Over the last ten games Max is hitting .500. Brad Lierman, another hot hitter, hit a 2-run, 2-out double in the second inning while TC Lee hit a double and made a spectacular catch in centerfield that resulted in a double play. The Bandits threatened in the ninth inning when secondbaseman Nat Richter led off the inning with a double and Stepan singled to put the winning run at the plate. But the Giants would record the final two outs and escape town with a victory.
The Bandits are off on Thursday but will return home on Friday to celebrate Christmas in July at 7:30 at Municipal Field. They will be hosting the Green Bay Storm.
